modern photography with timeless appeal
I always get a kick out of reading other people's bio pages, so when I set out to write mine, I struggled if I should write it in first person vs. third person. Whether I should be funny or sincere. What I'd want to know if I was looking for a photographer. In the end, I decided to be me, for better or worse; honest, random and a little silly.
WHO AM I?
I have had a camera since I was a child and feel incredibly fortunate that my vocation is also my hobby.
I began my pro career in 1994, when I sold a scenic shot of Joshua Tree National Forest. Since then, I have been published several times, had the cover of 2 trade journals and traveled across the US and Mexico for my clients. I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America and pursue continuing education several times each year.
My daydreams are to win an Oscar or get the cover of National Geographic. I'd would be totally cool if both happened. =)
I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, a dedicated dog-mommy, a friend to some amazing people, a photographer, a traveler and an all around goof!
My name really is Marnie - I was named after one of my granddaddy's sisters.
I laugh a lot, often for no visible reason.
I love a good joke, but only know one.
I love escaping into a book or in a dark movie theater.
I love to cook for others and have a serious sweet tooth.
I always stick up for the under-dog.
I don't believe in hate.
My favorite places on earth are Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA., Pere Lachaise in Paris, the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco, the Windsor Hotel in Cairo and my mother's veranda in Merida, Mexico.
I love photographing people, places and things and have been fortunate to work with some really awesome folks.
I am guaranteed to get dirty, climb on things or crawl under stuff in order to "get the shot".
I cant wait to meet my next fabulous client!
WHAT DOES CRESCENDO MEAN?
When I named the business I wanted something that captured the importance of photography - the way it connects us to our past and links us to the future. The word crescendo (kruh-shin-doh) is a musical term and means 'a climactic point or peak'. To me it is a perfect way to sum up why I do what I do. All the milestones we celebrate should be documented - the slices of life, our families and the personal histories we are making.
WHEN DO I WORK?
Since this is a full-time business, I work most every day. I may be shooting, meeting with clients, editing images, designing an album lay-out, marketing or networking but if you leave me a message or drop me a line I will get back to you as soon as I can.
WHERE CAN WE SHOOT?
We can shoot in studio or on location. I love to do destination work and will travel almost anywhere.
